Tenvir-EM tablet is a treatment for human immunodeficiency virus infections. Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and emtricitabine, both antiretroviral drugs, are present in the tablet. TDF and FTC function by inhibiting the reverse transcriptase enzyme, which is required for HIV replication. Treatment dosage and duration are determined by the individual patient and the severity of their HIV infection. It is typically taken orally once daily, with or without food, unless otherwise directed by a healthcare provider. Patients should immediately notify their healthcare provider if they experience any side effects. This should also not be taken during pregnancy because it may harm the developing fetus.
